CAT BREEDERS GUIDE: KITTEN CARE

For cat breeders, there is no cuter sight for them than seeing a kitten playing. To many cat owners all across the United States, kittens are the most adorable of all animals. As such that this guide will help provide first time cat breeders with the basic information on how to look after kittens.

One of the first things that a breeder should know is that kittens must stay with their mothers for the first couple of weeks. They must feed on their mother’s milk until they reach the time when they are ready to eat solid cat food. This is also the same stage when kittens are sold and given to their buyers. So, if ever you received a kitten when you were much younger, then it is most probable that you got them at this stage.

After seven or eight weeks, feeding milk is optional. Give them a bowl of water for drinking. Dry Foods can now be given to the kittens. But take note that the dry foods are for kittens and not adult cats. Kittens need more nutrition than older cats.

A non-clumping kitty litter should be used for three-month old kittens. Make sure that the litter box should be adjusted for the height of the kitten. This is also a good time to have the veterinarian visit for regular check-ups.

Lastly as cat breeders, be sure to expose your kittens to other cats. This will help them in social development. Be sure to pet your kitten so that it will be used to human touch. Always speak in a mild tone when addressing your kitten.
