SHOULD YOU GET A CREMATION URN?
It's not often that this purchase decision comes up, and when it does you may be too emotional to make the right decision. Let's look at the topic of pet cremation urns from a sentimental point of view. Let me share my personal experience of the loss of my pet dog. I lost my three year old Doberman dog to lymphoma cancer a few years ago. I provided her with cancer chemotherapy treatment, but her life was only extended by one year and it was a painful, emotional year. When I had to make the decision to end treatment and finally put her down, it was a very traumatic event for me. I had the power to say yes or no to a life. After considering many factors I decided to have her put down. The kind doctor asked me if I wanted cremation remains and at the time my only thought was if I couldn't take my dog home alive, what was the point? I declined taking the ash remains and off I went driving home with tears in my eyes. Now, skip forward a couple years and if someone asked me if I had wished I had kept my dog's ashes, I would now definitely answer yes. There is something comforting about having the remains of a loved one, even if just as a reminder of our special bond. I could lovingly place my pet ash urn in a special spot and cherish the memory of my dog, even if painful at times. Instead, I don't have that special urn keepsake and only have old photos and a paw imprint in clay. I do regret not choosing to keep my dog's ashes. Let this be a lesson to people not to make important decisions such as the purchase of a pet urn at an emotional time. Prepare for that purchase with a clear head and strong heart. Take the time to search out pet cremation urns and pick one that feels right. There are now so many different types of urns and some are even beautiful as decoration alone. Let's keep our special moments close to us always, even if only in spirit.
