HOW TO LOOK AFTER A FERRET AS A PET
There is no such things as a boring ferret. These small lovable creatures are lively and always active. If you like your pet to live in the background and just need occasional attention from you then you should get a tortoise. To look after a ferret takes planning and care. It can also be very rewarding as ferrets all have their own character and are generally very good companions. Free Range or Caged Ferret Most ferrets will expect to have the run of your home in the same way as cats and dogs. They do not like or expect to be caged. You can of course restrict rooms for them to use and have out of bounds areas. just remember that they will not stay where they are told. You will need physical barriers to keep them in the rooms you choose. A ferret in a cage is really not on as ferrets need to run and jump to keep themselves fit and healthy. A caged ferret is a dying ferret. Ferret Food or Your Food It is tempting for beginner ferret owners to feed their ferrets anything that comes to hand or is leftover from dinner. this might be fine for some pet ferrets but you should start them off with a vet prescribed diet. You can follow the diet sheet for a month or so and then widen it to see how your ferret reacts and enjoys more variety. Looking for reliable advice and information to help care for YOUR pet ferret? You should prepare visitors for meeting your ferret and then introduce them when they are used to the idea of them being there. Even then not all ferrets will behave in the presence of all people. In particular you should not let your ferret close to babies and young children. Because they make noises and unexpected movements this can spook the ferret and they may react to the child badly.
