TURTLES 101 - A BASIC GUIDE
Are you looking for a pet that is easy to raise, quite and inexpensive? You probably have thought that the expense of a cat or dog or tiger is too much, correct? You do not like the idea of raising a rat because they just are not cheerful-looking. And you decided against the ferret because you heard that these are still wild animals and might bite or go crazy. So what do you choose when it seems like all the animals you might like are impossible for you to raise? Choose a turtle. You can raise a turtle in a two-gallon or ten gallon tank with a nice filter. It is virtually no work. If you have a red-slider some other similar turtle, you can give him a nice rocky area to come out of the water and provide a nice water bowl if you are not interested in giving a whole 10 gallon tank over to the turtle. All of these turtles -except the sea turtles, or soft shell, need that area to come out of the water. Actually, I would always give a dry area to all turtles just because that is the way it looks and is better. Are YOU looking for a reliable source of information and accessories for YOUR Pet Turtle? Click here for a large, balanced selection Feeding a turtle is easy. You can give chop-meat to a turtle if you clean out the remaining food every day. Do not feed chop meat if you are not going to clean the tank residue up every day. Your turtle will love the meat. Otherwise you can give lettuce to the turtle (not too much), and other things. Ask your pet shop dealer for alternative meals for turtles. Make sure that you know what you are buying! There are some turtles, that do not live in water. The tortoises live on land, and these guys need land area and a small bowl of water to drink from. Read all about turtles online; do a net search. Hope this helps you. Choose a turtle; it does not bark and the vet bills are small or non-existent.
